Webinar: Enhancing the Generalizability of Impact Studies in Education (SEER Webinar 1)

Elizabeth Tipton, Northwestern University, and Rob Olsen, George Washington University, present recommendations that researchers can follow to improve generalizability when designing educational impact studies. They provide an overview of the key steps in identifying a target population of schools, creating a list of schools in that population, and selecting a representative sample. The webinar also provides an overview of the steps for recruiting schools to the study, assessing and adjusting for differences between the sample and the population, and appropriately reporting generalizability. The webinar is based on IES's recently published guidance on this topic, which you can find here: https://ies.ed.gov/ncee/pubs/2022003/pdf/2022003.pdf
