The five PIRLS trend assessments conducted to date involved thousands of collaborators internationally. PIRLS is the first large-scale assessment to report results after successfully collecting data during the COVID-19 pandemic, assessing 400,000 students in 57 countries.
The results of the PIRLS 2021 International Report were released by the TIMSS and PIRLS International Study Center at Boston College and the IEA on May 16, 2023. The report serves as a resource for educators, policymakers, and researchers to monitor educational recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The International database will be released on 22 June.
