Introduction:
Under the theme “Knowledge (Creates) Order?” the AEPF 2026 conference focuses on how knowledge, scientific inquiry, and social organization are interconnected within educational research and practice. The conference examines how “orders of knowledge” are produced and transformed across education, society, and science. It addresses how knowledge is structured and legitimized, and how these processes shape educational systems, research, and policy in the context of current developments such as data-driven governance and changing epistemic cultures.
Topics covered include:
- Changing, stabilizing, and competing orders of knowledge in educational fields of action and research
- The relationship between empirical research and evolving forms of knowledge recognition in science, including reflection on methodological and methodical premises and developments
- Emerging and changing relevance of research ethics in the context of shifts in science and society
- The role of empirical research in addressing pressing societal questions, including how it shapes public attention and how it may also contribute to obscuring certain issues
