As a first comparative data initiative on child development in Latin America, the study aims to enrich regional policy dialogue and comparisons on early childhood development (ECD) by providing indicators on children’s abilities and their family situations.

Child development test
Guided by a test administrator, one of two possible child development tests (differing in degree of difficulty) was administered in the domains mentioned above:
- Test A for children under 42 months of age
- Test B for those 42 months of age or older
