SACMEQ Coordinating Centre (SCC)

• Comprises the SACMEQ secretariat
• Manages daily operational activities
• Provides administrative and technical support for the SACMEQ National Research Coordinators (NRCs) and their deputies
• Works with partners to obtain funding for the cross-national cooperative components of SACMEQ’s research and training programs
• Implements policies through a number of committees

SACMEQ Managing Committee

• Consists of five ministers of education that are elected by the SACMEQ Assembly of Ministers for a two-year period
• Coordinates the details of SACMEQ’s administration and finance

SACMEQ Scientific Committee

• Consists of a number of experts (professors, former and current NRCs) recommended by the SCC and appointed by the SACMEQ Assembly of Ministers
• Provides training and technical support and advice to the SACMEQ Coordinating Centre as well as to the NRCs

Steering Committees

• National committees which consist of a number of high-ranking officials from the countries’ ministries of education
• Oversee the country operations of each SACMEQ member
• Oversees the work of the NRCs and their teams
